SENATOR JAMES A. SCOTT

Lifetime Achievement Award

For more than five decades, Senator James A. “Jim” Scott has been a prominent figure in Broward County’s civic, legal and public-service landscape. Scott served in the Florida Senate from 1976 to 2000, including as President of the Florida Senate from 1994 to 1996. His 24-year tenure in the Senate placed him at the center of important decisions affecting Florida’s communities. Following his legislative service, he continued his commitment to Broward as a member of the  County Commission.​ His impact extends well beyond elected office. He has built a distinguished legal career in South Florida and remains a member in good standing of The Florida Bar, which he joined in 1968. Throughout his career, Senator Scott has demonstrated an enduring commitment to leadership, public service and the community he has helped shape for generations. The Broward MPO is proud to recognize that extraordinary legacy with the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Community Impact Award

Secretary Braun has provided critical leadership in advancing transportation investments that improve safety, mobility and connectivity throughout Southeast Florida. His leadership has been especially important in advancing the SW 10th Street Connector Project, a transformative investment that will address longstanding transportation challenges, improve connections between the Sawgrass Expressway and I-95, and enhance mobility for residents, businesses and visitors. The Broward MPO proudly recognizes Braun with the 2026 Community Impact Award for his leadership and commitment to delivering transportation solutions that will create a lasting impact across Broward County.
